Original story:
A female toddler died after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in southwest Atlanta.
According to Atlanta Police Officer John Chafee, the 2-year-old, whose name has not been released, was struck by a daycare van around 4:30 p.m. in the 700 block of University Avenue.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the van had pulled into a parking lot at the location to drop off several children.
As the driver was backing out of the lot, the van struck the girl, who was not one of the children being dropped off.
