• One Woman Perishes, Sister Injured in College Park House Fire, Investigation Underway (hoodline.com) — College Park neighbors are mourning after a deadly house fire on Lyle Avenue killed one woman and left her sister hospitalized last Saturday afternoon. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours in an older two‑story home, and investigators are still working to determine what caused the tragedy as officials withhold the sisters’ names and the survivor’s condition.
   

• Hawks Waive Jacob Toppin (yardbarker.com) — College Park basketball fans will notice a roster change after the Atlanta Hawks waived forward Jacob Toppin, who recently starred for the College Park Skyhawks before a season-ending shoulder surgery. Toppin had been highly productive in limited G League action, and his departure opens a two-way contract slot the Hawks can now fill, potentially affecting future Skyhawks call-ups.
   

• Georgia DOR Publishes Tax Rates for Exempt Sales in Certain Fulton County Area (bloombergtax.com) — College Park residents should know that new Georgia sales tax rules will treat areas outside Atlanta, Hapeville, College Park, and East Point differently for certain exemptions starting January 1, 2026. While the state rate stays at 4%, some food and motor vehicle sales in specific Fulton County areas will be exempt from certain local taxes, unlike most of the rest of Georgia.
