UPDATE: Forsyth Under a Tornado Watch Until 4 a.m. Friday

While there is only a 30 percent of rain expected for this afternoon, the rain chance climbs to 100 percent through the evening, so expect to get wet if you go outside.

UPDATE:  Forsyth County is under a tornado watch until 4 a.m. Friday, April 12, according to the National Weather Service. A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 9 p.m. Quarter-sized hail and damaging winds up to 60 mph are possible with this storm. Doppler radar is showing signs of rotation within this storm.

Cumming and Forsyth County could be hit by severe thunderstorms early this evening, according to the National Weather Service. While there is only a 30 percent of rain expected for this afternoon, the rain chance climbs to 100 percent through the evening, so expect to get wet if you go outside.

With a south wind around 15 mph, and gusts as high as 25 mph today and tonight, the rain won't be coming straight down at times.

The National Weather Service said, "some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall" tonight. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible.

All of this could make the late afternoon-early evening commute a soggy mess.

It will still be warm, with a high near 77.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are in the forecast between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., and then showers and thunderstorms are likely after 5 a.m. The low will be around 54.

After a chance of showers before 9 a.m. Friday – just 30 percent – the day should turn out nice and mostly sunny, if a bit windy. The high will be near 72 degrees, with west winds 10-15 mph and gusts as high as 20 mph. The low Friday will be a bit cooler, dropping to around 41 degrees. The wind will slow down to 10-15 mph, with gusts reaching 20 mph.

It will be sunny, slightly windy and warm with a high of 73 on Saturday, and up to 75 on Sunday. That should make the Boulder Dash 5K pleasant.
