  1. Mark your calendar for the second annual Cumming Art Fest at the City Center coming up on Sep. 16-17. This event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day and will feature handcrafted products from nearly 100 artisans and vendors.   2. Pinecrest Academy in Cumming has received recognition for its abuse prevention practices. Praesidium, a national abuse risk management firm, has granted accreditation to the school based on its policies, training, monitoring and supervision, and administrative practices. The school will retain its accreditation for three years and will maintain strict practices to shield students from abuse. (Appen Media)
  3. The Forsyth County Fire Department has announced its inaugural Hometown Heroes 5K. This event will take place on Nov. 11 at the Big Creek Greenway-Fowler Park Trailhead.   4. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is still accepting sign-ups for its upcoming Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy. Classes begin Monday, Sep. 11, and provide students with opportunities for hands-on training with law enforcement officers. Students can participate in a ride-along with officers, training exercises, and learn about topics such as constitutional law and traffic stops. Click here for an application.   5. If you have a library card with the Forsyth County Public Library, you can now access free online tutoring services. Tutoring, homework help, and practice quizzes are available through Tutor.com. Library cardholders can also take practice quizzes and submit papers for review.
