- No Longer Bound, a faith-based nonprofit addiction treatment center in Forsyth County, is offering scholarships for its year-long program. The scholarships will cover 100 percent of the typical $15,000 program cost for eligible individuals. With 20 out of 56 beds currently empty, the center aims to provide a solution to addiction by offering these scholarships and encouraging interested individuals to apply through their website. - Charis Putmon, a nurse and mother of five, was on a date at a Tacos and Tequila restaurant in Cumming when she sprang into action to save a choking boy on Saturday. Surveillance footage captured the moment when the boy's mother noticed he was choking and began calling for help. Putmon and her husband rushed over, and she performed abdominal thrusts, successfully dislodging the object from the boy's throat. Putmon's quick response and nursing experience helped save the child's life, and her story has gained attention on social media as a reminder of the importance of knowing how to react in such situations. The replica is part of the UNG Permanent Art collection and is the only full-size copy of the famous embroidery in the United States, depicting the story of the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
