Forsyth Students, Top Performers in CRCT Averages
Results of state-mandated tests are out this week.

Forsyth County Schools (FCS) announced Wednesday that the results of the 2010-11 Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) show students and teachers continue to be top performers among the metro area and state.
State results showed that FCS students had the highest passing rate (96.6 percent) in Georgia on the eighth-grade math test.
"Once again we are thrilled with our CRCT scores recognizing that it represents the outstanding work of our teachers and the hard work of our students who always perform at their highest levels,โ Buster Evans, FCS Superintendent, said in a released statement.

According to FCS, the CRCT are given to students to measure their knowledge against curriculum standards. The tests assess students in gradesย 3 through 8ย on reading, English/language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
Grade Level Results based on the Georgia Department of Education data (school-by-school results will be available next month) are as follows:

Third grade:
In reading, 98.2 percent met or exceeded the standard. The 2011 state average was 90.9 percent.
In language arts, 97.6 percent met or exceeded the standard. This year's state average was 89.1 percent.
In math, 95.1 met or exceeded the standard, in science, 94.4 percent, in social studies, 94.3 percent. The state averages were 81.2 percent, 80.5 percent and 81 percent, respectively.
Fourth grade:
In reading, 97.5 percent met or exceeded the standard. The 2011 state average was 87.9 percent.
In language arts, 97.9 percent met or exceeded the standard. This year's state average was 88 percent.
In math, 96.2 percent met or exceeded standards; in science, 94.4 percent; and in social studies, 93.5 percent. The state averages were 81.1 percent, 79 percent and 77.4 percent, respectively.
Fifth grade:
In reading, 98.7 percent met or exceeded the standard. The 2011 state average was 90.5 percent.
In language arts, 98.9 percent met or exceeded the standard. This year's state average was 93 percent.
In math, 98 percent met or exceeded standards; in science, 93.3 percent; and in social studies, 91.3 percent. The state averages were 86.6 percent, 76.6 percent and 71.3 percent, respectively.
Sixth grade:
In reading, 98.7 percent met or exceeded the standard. The 2011 state average was 93.9 percent.
In language arts, 98.5 percent met or exceeded the standard. This year's state average was 91 percent.
In math, 95.3 percent met or exceeded standards; in science, 93 percent; and in social studies, 93.4 percent. In 2010, students in this category were: 82.3 percent, 81.5 percent, and 78.8 percent, respectively.
Seventh grade:
In reading, 98.5 percent met or exceeded the standard. The 2011 state average was 90.9 percent.
In language arts, 98.9 percent met or exceeded the standard. This year's state average was 93.1 percent.
In math, 98.9 percent met or exceeded standards; in science, 96.5 percent; and in social studies, 96.1 percent. The state averages were 89.4 percent, 82.2 percent and 74.9 percent, respectively.
Eight grade:
In reading, 99.1 percent met or exceeded the standard. The 2011 state average was 96.0 percent.
In language arts, 98.2 percent met or exceeded the standard. This year's state average was 92.8 percent.
In math, 96.9 percent met or exceeded standards; in science, 90.2 percent; and in social studies, 92.4 percent. The state averages were 77.7 percent, 67.1 percent and 72.5 percent, respectively.
โWhile this may be perhaps some of the highest scores we have ever seen across the board, we will continue to use this as an opportunity to obtain achievement at higher levels," added Evans.
