Opening Day at Central Park Saturday
The community is invited to this fun-filled family day of kids baseball and softball games Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The second annual Opening Day event will be held on Saturday at Central Park in Cumming. The community is invited to this fun-filled family day of kids baseball and softball games, coaches versus coaches softball game, live music, face painting, and the parade of players
"We have every team out at Central Park and we parade them," said Greg Blitz, president of the Central Park Athletic Association Booster Club. "And then we put them on the field and have our opening ceremony."
Scheduled to appear at that ceremony will be Pete Amos, chairman of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and State Rep. Mark Hamilton (R-Cumming).

Blitz said about 650 boys and girls will be participating in the parade of players, which begins at 9 a.m. followed by the first pitch at 9:45 a.m.
"Right after the ceremony we're going to have baseball games on all the fields," he said.

In addition to the face painting, there will be a Bounce House for the kids, shaved ice and treats for everyone, the Gwinnett Braves Mascot “Chopper” will be on hand for photos, and Cumming's own Gold Rush will be providing music and singing the national anthem.
The weather on Saturday will be perfect for this event with sunshine expected and a hi near 73, according to the National Weather Service.
Central Park is located at 2300 Keith Bridge Road, just west of Georgia 400.
