Public Meeting Next Week to Discuss County Growth
A resolution includes language for the potential dissolution of the Forsyth County Planning Commission and other changes.

CUMMING, GA -- Forsyth County residents interested in helping the government adapt itself to the county’s huge growth are invited to attend a public meeting to discuss a resolution proposed by the board of commissioners.
The meeting will be held on Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. in the Forsyth County Administration Building in Cumming, the county’s website says. The full resolution can be read here.
The resolution, submitted on Dec. 14, includes provisions for possibly breaking up the Forsyth County Planning Commission into five planning sub-areas. Language in the resolution says the planning sub-areas would give residents “means for greater citizen input directly to the Board of Commissioners...with the ability of any new sub-area Planning Commission to recommend additional public hearings before the Board”

Another provision in the resolution calls for the staggering of business proposals in residential areas “until certain school system improvements are completed.”
The resolution would also establish a landscaping and beautification project for the county’s arterial corridors and Ga. 400’s onramps and offramps. Unincorporated communities within Forsyth County would also be given the right to erect signage denoting the community’s name.
