Sheriff’s Office Names Sgt. as Employee of Quarter
Sgt. Gary Clark is recognized for nabbing shoplifter and foiling local "chop shop."

Sgt. Gary Clark has been selected as Employee of the Third Quarter, Headquarters Bureau of the .
On Aug. 29, Sgt. Clark received a tip from a concerned citizen telling him that a neighbor at 5282 Hyde Road was cutting vehicles apart with torches and saws, according to Lt. Col. D.T. Smith.
Immediately, Sgt. Clark began investigating the incident and once he had gathered additional information, he contacted the South Precinct, Uniform Patrol SOAR Unit and the Criminal Investigations Division (CID).

Authorities discovered that several suspects at the Hyde Road location were operating a “chop shop.” Those suspects were identified and arrested.
“Sgt. Clark is to be commended for not only his immediate action in responding to the information he received, but also for being able to have that type of relationship with citizens in the community,” said Lt. Col. Smith. “This was an outstanding job by Sgt. Clark and he is to be commended for his actions.”

Sgt. Clark is also responsible for catching a shoplifter. While shopping with his family at in August, he noticed a woman rush past the cashier with her shopping cart loaded with about $200 worth of merchandise. Clark quickly apprehended the woman and later found out that CID had been investigating this suspect for trying to sale more than a million dollars worth of scrapbooking items on E-Bay. Authorities have reason to believe that all or some of the items came from prior shoplifting sprees, according to reports.
“Sgt. Clark’s keen observation and apprehension skills led to the arrest of this woman,” said Lt. Col. Smith.
Sgt. Clark has been with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office since October 1997 and is currently assigned to the Warrant Unit, Support Services Division, and Headquarters Bureau.
