UPDATE: Town Hall Meeting Monday, SPLOST VII

Forsyth County residents are invited to a town hall meeting Monday on SPLOST VII, (the $200 million special purpose local option sales tax referendum).

UPDATE: Oct. 24, 10:22 a.m. (Tony DeMaria of Citizens for Responsible Growth will join Steve Voshall at tonight's town hall meeting).

Residents of Forsyth County are invited to attend a town hall meeting to discuss that will be on the ballot in the county's special election on Nov. 8.

The meeting, hosted by the Forsyth County Republican Party, will take place on Monday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) at the located at 595 Dahlonega Street in Cumming.

According to Ethan Underwood, Chairman of the Forsyth County GOP, the meeting will provide information to the community about the one-percent sales tax.

Voters will have an opportunity, "to get information to ask questions, about folks who are for and against the SPLOST vote," he said.

During the meeting, voters will hear from , in support of SPLOST VII.  and Tony DeMaria of Citizens for Responsible Growth will be speaking in opposition of the penny sales tax.

Underwood told Cumming Patch that Voshall was welcomed to have a second person with him during the meeting. Underwood is also looking for an individual neutral on the issue to moderate the meeting so that both sides are equally and fairly represented.

"We're hoping to have a very good turnout," said Underwood. The meeting is expected to last about 90 minutes.
