  1. Gwinnett County has placed a long-term bet on life sciences. The field is meant to explore practices that will improve both animal and human lives, encompassing everything from pharmaceuticals to food processing. The county is betting on a 2,000-acre, 18,000-job hub for life sciences. It will take more than 20 years to be fully completed. (Subscription: The Business Journals)
  2. Gwinnett County has plans to improve its bus network. The county does not have direct access to MARTA's rail system, so it is injecting millions of dollars into updating its main transit hub. The improvements may involve running buses in dedicated bus lanes with new routes and on-demand shuttle services. (Subscription: The Business Journals)
  3. In response to the recent footage of a student assaulting a teacher, Gwinnett County Public Schools Superintendent Calvin Watts has released a statement claiming that the incident is "unacceptable."
