- Discarded fireworks sparked overnight house fires in Gwinnett County. The two fires were both started by fireworks debris that was believed to be extinguished. The first fire occurred in Burford around 12:40 a.m., and the second fire occurred in Snellville around 12:50 a.m. The Gwinnett Fire Department is emphasizing the importance of soaking discarded fireworks before placing them in the trash. - Gwinnett County prosecutors will reportedly handle abortion cases on an individual basis. The announcement is necessary after the overturn of Roe v. Wade by the United States Supreme Court in late June. Georgia has passed a "heartbeat bill" which bans abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected — which is roughly six weeks.
