The alleged rape followed, the victim told police. The suspect left the house on foot.

Veit was located later walking down Buford Drive near Braselton Highway. He cooperated with police and said he was willing to speak with investigators. He was taken to police headquarters and was turned over to a Special Victims Unit detective.

Apparently, no charges were immediately filed.

On Monday, the sheriff’s office said deputies from the agency’s fugitive unit arrested Veit, 44, after developing information he was at a local bait shop.
