Homicide, Not Suicide In Buford: Gwinnett County Medical Examiner

Lawrence Gray of Gainesville reported the death of his girlfriend as a suicide. Gwinnett County's medical examiner later ruled it a murder.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A Gainesville man who claimed his girlfriend shot herself in Buford has been charged with murder in her death.

Lawrence Gray, 30, called 911 on July 2 to report that his girlfriend, Katlyn Head, 30, also of Gainesville, had shot herself while in their car, which was on Interstate 985 southbound.

The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office later conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a murder, according to a statement from the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Gray is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and felony murder.
