Pontoon Boat Accident Takes Life Of Recent Collins Hill Grad

GILBERT, SC β€” A 2018 graduate of Collins Hill High School died Monday in South Carolina after a dead tree fell on a pontoon boat she was riding.

Kathryn Grace Mullins, 20, was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at a Lexington County hospital. Multiple media outlets in Columbia, South Carolina, reported the cause of death as blunt-force trauma.

The accident happened over the weekend when the pontoon boat Mullins was riding drifted into a dead tree at the edge of Lake Murray in Gilbert, South Carolina.

The tree then snapped and fell on Mullins, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources as reported by the Associated Press.

No other injuries were reported.

Mullins, a student at Georgia Southern University, was a member of the Collins Hill volleyball team, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.
