Shooting Death Reported In Suwanee Was A Hoax: Police

Authorities are trying to find out who called 911, sending a Gwinnett SWAT team to a house in the Village Grove subdivision.

SUWANEE, GA β€” Authorities want to know who called 911 to report a shooting death in Suwanee that turned out to be a hoax.

According to multiple media outlets, Suwanee police received a call Tuesday morning reporting one person dead and an armed gunman waiting at a home in the Village Grove subdivision.

But when the Gwinnett County Swat team responded, they found that the occupants of the house had no idea what was going on.

The incident is believed to be a β€œswatting” call, where a prank phone caller sends armed police to a victim’s address, hoping to cause a mistaken confrontation.

Nobody was reported injured. Gwinnett Police are investigating.
