Here are the top three stories in Dacula today:
- Social media users are sharing a video allegedly showing an individual dropping off multiple ballots at a drop box in Gwinnett County. The video is dated 2020. There is no evidence that the video displays voter fraud. Election officials are reminding residents that it is legal for individuals to submit ballots on behalf of others in certain circumstances. The Georgia State Election Board has dismissed this video. (Reuters)
- Gwinnett County was allowed to report absentee ballot results faster due to Georgia's new election law. For the first time, Gwinnett County has been allowed to spend the 15 days before Election Day opening and processing absentee ballots. Gwinnett County Elections' goal was to have processed all absentee ballots before the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 8. (11 Alive)
- A Gwinnett County student submitted a column about his concerns regarding discipline incidents occurring in Gwinnett County Schools. John Prewitt, a senior at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology in Lawrenceville (about 10 miles from Dacula), shared the column as a follow-up to a speech he gave at last month's Board of Education meeting. He is urging the Board to improve policy regarding student safety. (Subscription: AJC)
