Brothers Building a Legacy of Leadership

Scouting, sports, and service shape the lives of two Paulding County teens

Scouting, sports, and service shape the lives of two Paulding County teens Matthew and Jacob Brinkley, brothers from Paulding County, have been active in Scouting since the age of 7. Their journey through the ranks has instilled in them values of leadership, commitment, and community service.

Matthew, a Junior at North Paulding High School, recently achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, marking a significant milestone in his Scouting career. Attaining the Eagle Scout rank is a rare accomplishmentβ€”only about 4% of Scouts reach this levelβ€”requiring years of dedication, the completion of at least 21 merit badges, demonstrated leadership, and the successful execution of a significant service project. For his Eagle Scout project, Matthew designed and built raised garden beds at Allgood Elementary School, creating an outdoor classroom where students can engage in hands-on learning about gardening and environmental stewardship. This initiative not only enhances the school’s educational resources but also reflects Matthew’s commitment to fostering community growth and sustainability.

Beyond Scouting, he is a dedicated athlete on the North Paulding Track and Field team, specializing in discus and shot put events. Balancing academics, athletics, and a part-time job, Matthew exemplifies hard work and determination.

Jacob, a 8th grader at McClure Middle School following closely in his brother’s footsteps, is also deeply involved in Scouting and community activities. He recently completed his second Legislative Session serving as a Page for Representative Trey Kelley at the Georgia Capitol on Sine Die Day-the final day of the state’s legislative session. β€œSine Die,” a Latin term meaning β€œwithout day,” signifies the adjournment of the legislature without assigning a day for a further meeting. In Georgia, it marks the 40th and last day of the legislative session, during which lawmakers work diligently to pass bills before the deadline. A avid baseball player, Jacob dedicates much of his time to travel baseball, honing his skills and teamwork.

This family's commitment to community service extends beyond the brothers. Their parents are actively involved in local volunteer efforts, and fundraising throughout Paulding County and our schools.

Their sister who is also a North Paulding graduate serves as a Dance Hope Cure Ambassador and is currently pursuing a nursing degree at Kennesaw State University, blending her passion for dance with advocacy and healthcare.

Through their combined efforts in Scouting, sports, and community involvement, Matthew and Jacob Brinkley are not only building a legacy of leadership but also inspiring those around them to contribute positively to their community.
