Dallas, Hiram Sees Population Increase: U.S. Census Estimates

Latest U.S. Census figures suggest the Dallas region is growing, including inside the municipal boundaries.

DALLAS, GA — The cities of Dallas and Hiram saw an increase in the population last year, according to new estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Dallas' population increased by nearly 150 residents, with an estimated population of 12,870. The 2010 population for the city was 11,544, and the estimate has increased every year since then.

In Hiram, the population increased by more than 85 residents, finishing at 3,792. The 2010 population was 3,546.

New numbers released by the Census Bureau on Thursday include population estimates for all local cities and towns.

The biggest municipality in Georgia: Atlanta, with 463,878. The population increased more than 7,500 in the city, according to Census estimates.

Columbus and Augusta were second and third, each with populations around 200,000.

Census estimates were also released for the number of housing units in counties.

Forsyth County is one of the fastest growing in the country, with more than 3,000 new housing units in 2015. Cherokee County and Oconee counties were among the top 100 fastest growing.

Paulding County increased by more than 800 housing units, with a total of 53,948.
