Paulding, Hiram: Coronavirus Emergency But No Shelter In Place

PAULDING COUNTY — Both Paulding County and the City of Hiram declared coronavirus states of emergency Thursday, limiting restaurants and much else but stopping short of issuing shelter-in-place orders. Both last until April 6, and the Hiram ordinance says it will follow Paulding’s lead if it mandates shelter-in-place.

Restrictions in both declarations include.

• Restaurants already licensed to serve beer or wine can sell unopened containers for consumption off premises. All patrons and employees must stay at least 6 feet apart.
• Businesses requiring “close proximity” like gyms, social clubs, theaters and nail salons are closed.
• All parks are closed.
• No utilities will be disconnected for non-payment.
• Anyone showing symptoms should stay away from public places and seek medical help.

The Hiram declaration specifically prohibits restaurants from offering dine-in and gatherings of more than 10 people. The Paulding declaration doesn’t specify 10-person gatherings but does require businesses that can’t maintain 6 feet between occupants to limit occupancy to 10 people.
