- A judge has overturned Georgiaβs ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. On Tuesday, it was ruled that the abortion ban violated the U.S. Constitution, as well as Supreme Court precedent. The ruling took effect immediately. Abortions past six weeks of pregnancy resumed at some clinics on Wednesday. The State Attorney General's office has already filed an appeal on the ruling. (Yahoo! News)
- The list of the safest hospitals in Georgia has been released, and Wellstar Paulding Hospital in Hiram received a strong score. The hospital received a "B" for its efforts to provide excellent care for patients. Eighteen Georgia hospitals received an "A;" Wellstar Paulding Hospital was among the 15 that earned a "B." While two hospitals in the state received a "D" grade, none got an "F." (Patch)
- In a trend that has been seen across the country, a record number of Latino candidates joined the Georgia state legislature. Georgia has elected four Latino and Hispanic politicians, including one in Dallas. Republican Senator Jason Anavitarte, who claims to be the first Latino to ever be elected to a leadership role in either chamber, will begin serving Dallas in 2023. Approximately 10 percent of Georgia's population is Hispanic or Latino. (Axios)
- She sang her heart out, but Dallas resident Sasha Hurtado was voted off "The Voice" on Tuesday night. The 19-year-old, who was part of John Legend's team, crooned Sia's hit song "Elastic Heart." Bryce Leatherwood from Blake Shelton's team gained the upper hand and won. Hurtado later had the chance to get the wildcard spot, but ultimately she lost her bid for another slot on the show.
