- On Saturday, Hardy's Chevrolet in Dallas held the XCEL North Georgia Welding Competition, featuring twelve teams from around the region. First place went to Fannin High School’s all-girl team, Cinderella Carriage, made up of Chelsey Frye, Emaline Cochran, and Brooklyn Henderson. Fannin High School also had a team place third: Red Semi Truck. (FetchYourNews.com)
- Norfolk Southern railroad, which is based in Atlanta and frequently passes through Dallas, delivered 27 percent higher 3Q profit. The company earned $958 million, a big boost up from $753 million a year ago. Norfolk Southern is one of the nation’s largest railroads, and it operates about 19,500 miles of track in 22 Eastern states and the District of Columbia. (The Christian Index)
- This week, Hiram defeated Woodland, just as they did at their last meeting on Oct. 28, 2021. The Hiram Hornets have a few losses after being defeated 26-21 by the Cass Colonels. Neither Hiram nor Woodland are contenders for the playoffs. (Northwest Georgia News)
- On Nov. 13, the City of Hiram will be commemorating World Kindness Day in partnership with Butter'dudder and Paulding Rocks. City officials will be at Butter'dudder's Ice Cream shop at Homer Leggett Memorial Park between the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to partake in ice cream as they get to know their elected officials. - Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has announced a major initiative to tackle the childhood mental health crisis, including new facilities and prevention programs. Visits to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta emergency departments since 2015 have more than doubled, exceeding 4,000 visits annually and showing the need for programs like this. (BusinessWire)
