  1. The Dallas City Council will be holding its next work session and regular meeting at City Hall this upcoming Monday, Aug. 29. The work session begins at 4:00 p.m., followed by the meeting at 5:15 p.m. The work session agenda includes reports from multiple City Council committees, including finance, public safety, transportation, and more. At the time of this writing, an agenda has not yet been posted for the council meeting. (City of Dallas)
  2. Within the last week, the Paulding County Government has posted numerous job openings for local residents who want to better serve their community. Some recently added jobs include a part-time library assistant at the Hiram Public Library, a part-time transit driver for the Paulding County Senior Center in Dallas, a full-time customer service representative for the Paulding County Water System, and two full-time meter technicians, also for the Water System.   3. The coach responsible for starting the volleyball program at South Paulding High School in Dallas is now taking her talents over to Gaylesville, Alabama. Jeanne Hatmaker, a former setter for Cherokee County High School and Gadsden State, spent 12 years coaching a variety of Georgia volleyball teams. She will now serve as the new head varsity volleyball coach for the Gaylesville Lady Trojans. (WEIS Radio)
  4. If you have a daughter who loves to be on stage, there's still time to register her for the Diamond Elite Princess Competition this Saturday, Aug. 27. The pageant will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Hamilton-McPherson Fine Arts Center in Bremen, about 35 minutes outside of Dallas. Winners of the Diamond Elite Princess Competition will be featured on the Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition stage next summer.   5. If you're homeschooling your child this year, don't miss out on the New Georgia Library's last two Homeschool Wednesday sessions! This weekly program offers local homeschooled students the opportunity to interact with other homeschool families while engaging in art projects, educational activities, and more.   • Shell stations across Atlanta have launched "The Giving Pump" to offer consumers the opportunity to use their fill-up for good. Now through Oct. 31, drivers will support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta — which includes the Paulding County Boys and Girls Club in Dallas — by using the designated pump at participating locations.
