  1. Back on Mar. 14, 2022, P.B. Ritch Middle School was the first school in the Paulding County School district to implement new 1:1 program providing laptops for all students. One by one, each student at P.B. Ritch Middle School proceeded through a line in the school cafeteria and were handed them a brand-new Microsoft Surface laptop. 539 laptops have been issued to students and more will be offered over the next several months.   2. Next week, Oct. 24 through Oct. 28, is Red Ribbon week at Hiram High School. The theme of this year's Red Ribbon week is “Celebrating Life.” The themed dress days throughout the week highlight establishing career goals, spreading positivity, and reducing the use of recreational drugs.   3. Paulding County Animal Control is looking for business sponsors of their booth for an upcoming Halloween trunk-or-treat event. In exchange for providing candy to be distributed, businesses can have their business cards handed out or a sign featured at the Paulding County Animal Control booth.   4. On Saturday, a local football star attended Michigan’s home win over Penn State on Saturday. It was the largest recruiting event of the season, featuring four commits in the 2023 class as well as targets in the 2023, 2024, and 2025 classes.
