Paulding Deputy Arrested In Domestic Dispute Involving Wife

A Paulding County deputy is facing multiple charges, including reckless conduct, in connection with a domestic dispute at his home.

PAULDING COUNTY, GA β€” A Paulding County deputy has been arrested in connection with a recent domestic dispute involving his wife, authorities said Wednesday.

The Paulding County Sheriff's Office said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested deputy Terry Scott McAdams, 36. His fellow deputies responded to the domestic dispute around 1:15 p.m., July 16, at the Paulding County home, authorities said.

"As soon as deputies were dispatched to the residence, it was immediately determined that this was the residence of Paulding County Deputy Terry Scott McAdams," authorities said in a news release.

McAdams was off duty at the time, and the incident did not involve his official police equipment, authorities said. They did not specifically detail the nature of the incident.

Upon learning of the incident, authorities said Paulding County Sheriff Ashley Henson notified the GBI and asked that the state agency conduct the investigation as the GBI is an unbiased third-party.

McAdams was arrested on charges of reckless conduct, battery and second-degree cruelty to children, authorities said. He was booked at the Paulding County Jail and was then taken to an adjacent county jail, where he was housed until bond was granted, authorities said.

He has been fired from the sheriff's office, authorities said.

β€œWe are committed to protecting all of our citizens no matter who is involved," Henson said in the release. "Arresting and firing one of your own is one of the most difficult things a sheriff has to do. No one is above the law, especially one of our own. We will always do what is right.”
