Teacher Of Year Honors Go To Hiram High School History Instructor

DALLAS, GA β€” A history teacher at Hiram High School has been named the Paulding County School District’s Teacher of the Year for 2022.

Rachel Stancel teaches U.S. and world history at Hiram High, where, according to a statement from the district she’s β€œbeloved by her students and colleagues.”

Stancel started her career at Hiram in 2015, after graduating with a bachelor of science in history education from Kennesaw State University. She later graduated summa cum laude with her master of education, also from Kennesaw State.

She’s taught several social-studies courses, including U.S. history, world history advanced placement U.S. history. Most recently she helped start the Hiram Academy of Computer Science, established in 2020.

β€œRachel Stancel is the epitome of what we look for in an amazing educator,” said Misty Cooksey, principal at Hiram High School. β€œHer students leave her classroom better prepared for their next steps in the journey to adulthood.”
