- A new budget has been proposed for the 2024 fiscal school year for the Whitfield County School District, which would increase the budget by around $16 million. The proposed budget includes raises for some members of the district staff and would add new positions, including three paraprofessionals and three assistant high school soccer coaches. A second presentation for the proposed budget and the potential approval vote have already been scheduled for Jun. 20 at 5:30 p.m. (Yahoo! News)
- Andrew Holt of Whitfield County is currently fighting for his life after suffering a severe go-cart crash over Memorial Day weekend involving another vehicle. According to police officers, Holt was driving north on Beaverdale Road when he veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a car. Holt's family has relied on public support and blood donations as the amount of blood he lost the day of the accident was said to have nearly "cleared out" the blood bank. Many people in the community have volunteered to donate blood. Andrew's family has also established a GoFundMe to continue to pay for his medical needs. (Local 3 News)
