- Jeffson Locke, a tight end and defensive end for Dalton High School's football team, has announced his commitment to play college football at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Locke visited West Point in April and received offers from other service academies as well as several other universities. Locke's college decision will be finalized during the NCAA's early signing window in December, and he is set to begin his senior season with the Catamounts this fall. (Daily Citizen)
- President Joe Biden hinted at a future visit to Dalton but did not provide a specific date during his recent remarks in South Carolina. Although he mentioned Dalton as the location of a major solar panel manufacturing facility, it is uncertain if he was serious about attending the groundbreaking. Qcells, the company operating the facility, expressed their willingness to host President Biden and other officials to showcase their investments in the domestic solar supply chain, which are expected to bring significant job opportunities to the area. - John Thomas has been confirmed as the new CEO of Dalton Utilities by the Board of Water, Light and Sinking Fund Commissioners in a unanimous vote. Thomas, who previously served as the utility's chief financial officer, has been praised for his experience and abilities by the board chairman. He joined Dalton Utilities in 2008 and has held various roles within the organization, demonstrating his expertise in both operations and finance. (Yahoo! Finance)
