- This past Tuesday, a high-speed chase ensued in Whitfield County, resulting in a car crash and an individual being arrested shortly after. A vehicle was identified by deputies at a Circle K in Dalton for being involved in an earlier robbery, the suspect fled the scene hitting high speeds before losing control and colliding with another vehicle on the interstate. Suspect 23-year-old Kayvon Taylor fled the scene on foot after crashing before being tracked down and arrested a short distance from the scene, he is currently facing several charges. (WTVC)
- Earlier this week it was announced that Shaw Industries has inducted driver Claude "Ricky" Cook into the National Private Truck Council's Hall of Fame. Cook has been driving for Shaw Industries for 38 years and has driven 4.4 million miles without a preventable or moving accident. Since joining in 1984 Cook has served several roles within the company and proven to be a valuable team member in every role, he is only the fifth Shaw driver in the Hall of Fame. Each year only four drivers are selected from NPTC member fleets and only 144 have ever made the rank. (Floor Daily)
- Dalton police arrested 29-year-old Marcus Antroune Freeman earlier this week for a shooting that took place behind Kroger's shopping center. Officers reported that a domestic dispute did occur prior to the shooting and no one was injured, it was also confirmed that during the incident Freeman fired several shots behind the store. Freeman was found by investigating officers fleeing from the scene on foot near Dug Gap Road, he is currently facing aggravated assault and reckless conduct charges. (WDEF News 12)
