  1. During her visit to Dalton, Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated the positive impact of the Inflation Reduction Act at Qcells, a solar panel manufacturing facility. Summit Ridge Energy, a prominent developer of community solar projects, pledged to buy 2.5 million solar panels made in the United States. However, guidance from the Treasury Department introduced complications, leaving developers uncertain about meeting tax credit requirements and prompting them to seek affordable alternatives. Despite these challenges, the Inflation Reduction Act is recognized as a game-changer for American electricity generation, fostering domestic manufacturing and promoting clean energy.   2. Dalton Utilities CEO, Tom Bundros, will retire effective Jun. 30. After first joining the company in 1997, Mr. Bundros, assumed the position of CEO in 2016. He says that he has enjoyed his tenure with the company and working with the company personnel. The Board of Commissioners of the Water, Light, and Sinking Fund, announced the retirement on Monday, Jun. 12. (Daily Citizen)
  3. Contractors have started installing a new playground at Harlan Godfrey Civitan Park in Dalton with an expected completion time of about three weeks. The city council approved a contract to replace the old playground with a handicapped-accessible one, along with the replacement of trash cans and benches. Civitan Park is a popular recreational area, known for its track and gazebo, and the project aims to enhance the park's amenities while providing volunteer opportunities for the Dalton Civitan Club.
