- Looking for a new family member? Take a gander at "Cubby", the Dalton Pet of the Week. The Human Society of Northwest Georgia presents this adorable brown and white dog for adoption to a new home. He loves people, children, and other dogs, - but keep him away from cats! You can visit Cubby and other animals while taking a tour of the facility on Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For safety reasons, children under 12 are not allowed into the dog area. The Society also welcomes you to volunteer. (Daily Citizen)
- Is the Dalton Mall still a viable shopping space? This article by Best Attractions traces the mall's history from the first build to the present. Despite the bankruptcies, vacancies, and demolitions in the past, the current stores in the mall hold out hope for the future. You can add your comment about the Dalton Mall here. This program awards prizes of cash, gift cards, and even more to kids, teens, and adults who accept and conquer its reading challenge. There is still time, as the program won't end until Jul. 14. If anyone does call you, please know that they are not from the Police! Dalton PD is warning all residents of a phone scam trying to frighten people into giving up their personal information. Do not respond to any such callers, but instead, please call the Dalton PD and report the call. The Dalton PD will not contact you by phone regarding payments. (daltonga.gov)
