63 Arrested As DeKalb Cracks Down On Crime
Dozens of people were arrested on warrants ranging from murder to robbery to rape and aggravated assault, DeKalb County authorities say.
DECATUR, GA — Dozens of people were arrested this week in a joint operation led by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities on Thursday said 53 people were arrested on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants, and 10 people were arrested and charged with traffic violations during Operation Safe DeKalb 2025. The sweep took place on Tuesday and Thursday, authorities said.
Operation Safe DeKalb targeted areas considered high crime, authorities said. In all, officers from multiple law-enforcement agencies visited 400 places to make arrests, authorities said.

“Criminal activity in DeKalb County continues to threaten the safety of our family and friends. Our dedicated and highly trained field operations deputies arrest suspected offenders daily. But for every arrest we make, new crimes are committed," DeKalb County Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said in a news release.
"Locating and apprehending suspects is dangerous and requires qualified personnel. It is through the concentrated collaboration with our valued DeKalb and metro area law enforcement partners that we can successfully expedite arrests get more suspects off the streets, helping to secure our residences and businesses.”

Warrants ranged from murder to robbery to rape and aggravated assault, authorities said. People were also arrested on charges related to family violence offenses and probation violations, authorities said.
Officers seized five gun and recovered a stolen vehicle during the sweep, authorities said.
Arrestees were taken to the DeKalb County Jail without incident, authorities said.
