91 Manhole Covers Stolen In DeKalb; Man Arrested
Manhole covers have also been stolen in Rockdale and Gwinnett counties, police say.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A man is facing charges in connection with the suspected thefts of more than 91 manhole covers in DeKalb County.
Investigators on Tuesday said they arrested Kailan Whatley on Sept. 16 and charged him with eight counts of theft of government property.
The manhole covers belonged to DeKalb County Public Works and started disappearing on Sept. 2, police said.

Whatley was identified through witness statements and video footage, police said. He bonded out and was released from incarceration on Friday, DeKalb County Jail records showed Wednesday.
There were similar cases in Rockdale and Gwinnett counties, police said.
