Decatur School Threats Cancel After School Plans, Early Checkouts

Police received a bomb threat against one school and gun violence threats at two others on Tuesday. Schools were locked down the whole day.

DECATUR, GA -- All Decatur city schools were locked down Tuesday morning until the end of the school day, after police received several threats against multiple schools. Decatur police confirmed it had received reports of a bomb threat against one school and threats of gun violence against two others. DeKalb County police and the DeKalb County sheriff’s office are assisting, but police have found, so far, no credible evidence.

Officers will remain assigned to each of the schools for the remainder of the day, but all after school activities have been cancelled and early checkouts are not being permitted.

"Students cannot be checked out until the lockdown is lifted," the city school system said. "Please do not go to the schools because this will interfere with school safety procedures."
