Decatur Police Investigate Theft Of Coins, Watch
Woman reports car stolen, then drops complaint.

Coins, watch taken: A woman called police Feb. 19 to report a bag with $50 in quarters and a watch worth $250 had been taken from her residence in the 200 block of Feld Avenue.

The woman said she was getting ready for church when she noticed the items missing from her bedroom dresser.
Police questioned her son, who said his mother was at the store the afternoon of Feb. 18 when a man knocked on the front door and asked for money to purchase pain medicine.

The son said he let the man into the house to provide him with medication and left him unattended near his mother's bedroom. The man left a brief time later. The son wasn't sure of the man's name.
Car reported stolen: A resident of Sycamore Place called police Feb. 22 to report that her 2007 Scion TC had been stolen.
She said her fiance dropped her off at work that morning and was supposed to take the car for an emissions test. At 5 p.m. he texted her to say he wouldn't pick her up from work. He apparently turned off his cell phone then.
At 8 a.m. Feb. 23 the woman called police to say the vehicle was back and she wouldn't press charges. Police confirmed the vehicle had been returned and closed the case.
Identity theft: A woman who lives in the 100 block of Hill Street told police Feb. 20 she tried to get her taxes done at H&R Block but they said they couldn't do it. They gave no reason, so she called the IRS. The IRS said somebody had already filed taxes using her name, address and Social Security number.
Phone taken: Police are investigating a cell phone theft. A soccer player said he was practicing at Ebster Field the afternoon of Feb. 23 and put his iPhone 4S into his shoe. When he finished practice, the phone was gone. He valued the phone at $200.
