Decatur Schools Return Thursday: Must-Know Dates

DECATUR, GA — The first day of school in Decatur City Schools is Thursday, August 1 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. Decatur City Schools has released its 2019-20 calendar for the city's public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• Aug. 1 — First day of school
• Sept. 2 — Labor Day, no school
• Sept. 23-27 — Fall break
• Oct. 14 — No school
• Nov. 25-29 — Thanksgiving break
• Dec. 23-Jan. 3 — Holiday break
• Jan. 20 — MLK Day, no school
• Feb. 17-23 — Winter break
• April 6-10 — Spring break
• May 25 — Memorial Day
• June 2 — Last day of school
