Dekalb County Superintendent Issues Apology To Teachers For New Contract: Report

Superintendent Cheryl Watson-Harris apologized for "upsetting and questionable" job descriptions sent to teachers in new contract.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb County teachers received an apology this week from district superintendent Cheryl Watson-Harris for the “upsetting and questionable” job descriptions sent to about 7,000 employees, reported the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Some teachers expressed concerns over the DeKalb county teachers’ contract for next year because of the new list of performance factors. Teachers were told they would be evaluated on their ability to work under stress and to concentrate.

  • Maintain composure and not compound a situation when interacting with persons who may be angry, demanding, or otherwise less than polite.
  • Ignore irrelevant sights or sounds and intrusive thoughts or stimuli.

The district’s legal counsel and human resources staff are reviewing the language in the job description “with additional updates forthcoming,” a district spokeswoman told the AJC.
