DeKalb Schools Plans Virtual COVID-19 Medical Roundtable

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — The DeKalb County School District is bringing several health professionals for a roundtable discussion with Superintendent Cheryl Watson-Harris regarding COVID-19, according to a news release.

Six medical and public health experts, all part of the district's COVID-19 advisory committee, will discuss COVID-19 precautions, public health guidelines, district policy and future implications:

• Dr. Sandra Valenciano, DeKalb district health director and chief executive officer of the DeKalb County Board of Health.
• Andrew Gewirtz, professor at the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University.
• Dr. Veda Johnson, professor of pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine and executive director of Emory's PARTNERS for Equity in Child and Adolescent Health.
• Dr. Jennifer McQuiston, deputy director of the Division of High Consequence Pathogens and Pathology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
• Dr. Jennifer Shu, Children's Medical Group
• Dr. Lynette Wilson-Phillips, community pediatrician at Decatur Pediatric Group and Kids' Doc on Wheels.

The roundtable starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday and can be viewed on the district's family engagement Facebook page.
