DECATUR, GA -- A DeKalb County jailer was arrested Friday for allegedly providing contraband to an inmate, authorities announced. Detention Officer Elizabeth Ashley Meta Young was arrested after an internal investigation at a DeKalb County jail.
Young, 33, is facing charges of violation of oath of office and two counts of crossing the state/county guard lines, all felonies, according to a news release from DeKalb Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Cynthia Baugh Williams. "Deputies found large amounts of tobacco in her possession while she was on duty," Williams said in the release. According to warrants, Young plotted to deliver the tobacco to an inmate with whom she had been corresponding.

Young bonded out of jail and was fired, according to the Sheriff's Office.
