Ex-DeKalb Jailer Arrested On Assault Charges
The former DeKalb County detention officer was also charged with violation of oath of office by a public officer, authorities say.
DECATUR, GA — A former DeKalb County detention officer is facing an aggravated assault charge in connection with an incident involving an inmate, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Authorities released limited details but said Martin Douglas, 50, on Monday was arrested on a singular charge of aggravated assault with a weapon in connection with a July 4 incident at the DeKalb County Jail.
Douglas was also charged with violation of oath of office by a public officer, which is also a felony, authorities said. He was fired after his arrest, authorities said.

He had been with the sheriff's office since March 4, 2024, authorities said.
They added he was released from jail Monday on a $20,000 bond.
