Java Monkey Damaged By Fire, Closed For At Least A Month

Two other business next to Decatur's popular coffee shop suffered water damage. No details yet on how much damage was sustained.

DECATUR, GA -- A fire broke out overnight at a popular Decatur coffee shop. The fire broke out at Java Monkey on Church Street. Fire officials believe the fire started in an attic. Two nearby businesses also suffered smoke and water damage.

Police closed portions of both Church Street and East Ponce de Leon Avenue until about 4:15 a.m. No word yet on the extent of the damage.

The coffee shop said on its Facebook page it would be closed for at least a month.
