Every startup begins with a spark. First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta is now accepting applications for the 2026 cohort of its Epiphany program, a faith-based social entrepreneurship incubator supporting startups tackling today’s most pressing challenges. Epiphany is an evergreen initiative that equips entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to social issues with funding, mentorship, and strategic guidance. If you are an emerging founder with a vision to address societal challenges often overlooked by traditional markets, Epiphany offers the resources needed to help your venture grow. Examples of qualifying ventures include businesses that employ formerly incarcerated individuals or adults with developmental challenges, as well as enterprises offering services such as coding training for refugees or mechanical skills development in low-income communities. Since its launch, Epiphany has awarded nearly half a million dollars in grants and supported multiple successful ventures, including Refuge Coffee Co., PadSplit, and Purposeful Gourmet Foods. Modeled in part after the format of Shark Tank, the program provides early-stage entrepreneurs with capital, mentorship, and access to a network focused on impact areas such as hunger, homelessness, housing, refugee resettlement, racial equity, poverty, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability. Decatur and Avondale Estates residents looking for work can check out DeKalb County's Mobile Career Center, also called the "jobs bus," this week. On Tuesday, April 3, the jobs bus will visit the Atlanta VA Medical Center at 1670 Clairmont Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesday, April 4, the jobs bus comes to the Department of Family and Children Services at 178 Sams St. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The jobs bus will visit other nearby spots in coming weeks. It will visit the Villages of East Lake April 12 and comes back to the DFCS office April 18. Major features of the resource center include 13 computer stations; a private interview area; high-speed satellite Internet connection; printer, scanner and copy services; and a fully accessible ADA workstation with movable table and auxiliary.  The mobile unit will also provide residents with essential services including job search assistance, adult workshops and training, resume writing and interviewing tips.
