Mural Planned for New Decatur Parking Garage
Developers are taking steps to reduce the eyesore caused by the structure on East Howard Avenue.

Developers responsible for the new Arlo mixed-use project are working to ensure the buildings fit the ambiance of the area by helping the City of Decatur spruce up the back of a parking garage that could become an eyesore.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Centro Development is helping to shoulder the costs of the city’s plan to paint a mural on the 140-foot long structure’s rear side, which faces East Howard Avenue. Centro will also widen sidewalks and plant trees on East Howard Avenue.
Construction on the five-story mixed-use development began in late September of last year with a planned completion date of June 2016, according to civil engineering firm ColeJenest and Stone. The development will contain apartment and retail space, including the return of a Dairy Queen to the city.
