Stonecrest Mall Employee Hits Shopper Accused Of Stealing With Pole
A shopper accused of stealing was struck with a metal pole by a Stonecrest Mall employee. Family says he had to have surgery on his spine.
DEKALB COUNTY, GA — Cell phone video obtained by WAGA-TV shows an employee hitting a shopper in the head with a metal object.
DeKalb County police told the news station that they are investigating the assault that happened over the weekend at Stonecrest Mall. An employee at Player’s Closet accused Dekwan Jackson, 25, of stealing a shirt so followed him out the store and struck him with a metal pole, WAGA-TV reported.
Family told the news station that Jackson’s injuries were so severe he had to have surgery on his spine, metal plates put into his head and neck, and a rod down his spine.

A store spokesperson told WAGA-TV that Jackson was accused of threatening the employee, saying he had a gun.
"You damaged his spine…nothing in this world is that deep," his aunt said.
