If You're Scouting For Cookies, Here's a Locator -- And A Poll

The Girl Scouts organization is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Been craving Thin Mints, Samoas or Tagalongs?

It's time for Girl Scout cookie sales. The 42,000 girls of the 3,500 troops of the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta began taking cookie orders Saturday. Order your boxes for $3.50 each in time for delivery Feb. 11-17.

Girl Scout cookie booths will open on Feb. 17 and cookie sales wrap up in April.

Be on the lookout for a special cookie, Savannah Smiles, to commemorate the Girl Scouts' 100th Year Anniversary this year. The cookie has a tart lemon flavor.

Girl Scouts Cookies? There's an App For That

This year, the girls will be armed with mobile credit card machines, and just so that you won't miss them, they have unrolled a Girl Scout Cookie locator app for iPhone and Android.

You can find a cookie booth (once they open on Feb. 17) nearby, using the phone's GPS locator, or search by city or ZIP code. Additionally, you can map a route to the cookie booth once located or share the results with a friend.

The only one on tap in our community so far seems to be at St. Thomas More Church on West Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur at 11 a.m. Feb. 19. But check back later because there may be more.

Until then, tell us which Girl Scout cookie you like best.
