Decatur's Kitchen Garden Needs Volunteers This Week

Starting Monday afternoon, help is needed to create seed packets for the people working the garden.

Different private and government groups came together to create the garden, which will be tilled by international refugree farmers and low-income DeKalb County residents. Global Growers Network oversees the project.

Now the garden needs volunteer help from people in the community four days this week, starting today. As The Decatur Minute explains,

Global Growers Network needs volunteers to help with our Seed Starter event. We are creating seed packets, that when distributed to our producers, will supplement their seed collections in preparation for growing crops this Summer. We need people to help weigh, package and label seed packets that we will distribute.

The work on the seed packets will happen on these dates:

  • Monday, April 9 from 4-6 pm
  • Tuesday, April 10 from 1-6 pm
  • Wednesday, April 11 from 3-6p m
  • Friday, April 13 from 3-6 pm
