4-Year-Old Shoots Self, Parents Charged With Murder

A mother and father from Augusta have been charged with murder after their 4-year-old son shot and killed himself Saturday.

AUGUSTA, GA – A mother and father from Augusta have been charged with murder after their 4-year-old son shot and killed himself Saturday after finding his father's gun.

Justin Withrop Foss Jr. accidentally shot himself, according to the Augusta Chronicle. His father, Justin Foss Sr., 27, is charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was convicted in 2013 of strong-arm robbery in South Carolina, the Chronicle reported.

A grand jury returned indictments Tuesday for both Justin and Shelby Foss, 24. Both were also charged with cruelty to children in the second degree.

According to jail records, both are being held in the Richmond County Jail. Justin Foss has been denied bond.
