The weather may clear for a fireworks display, but the Weather Channel forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms in the morning, with winds at 10-15 mph. Skies will clear Monday night.

The National Weather Service also notes the wind gusts, but puts the chance for showers and storms at mid-afternoon. Storms may return in the overnight hours once fireworks displays are done. See more:

Fireworks Safety

Last year was the worst year for fireworks injuries in at least 15 years, according to a report released Thursday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Eleven people died in 2015 using fireworks, the report said, and an estimated 11,900 people were taken to the hospital with fireworks-related injuries. See more:

Expecting heavy holiday traffic, the Georgia Department of Transportation has suspended construction-related lane closures on interstate and major state system highways until Tuesday, July 5. See more:

Enforcement

Georgia State Patrol has increased traffic enforcement this weekend, particularly during peak travel times. “If you are caught driving impaired, you will be arrested,” said Col. Mark McDonough, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety. See more:
