Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville:

  1. Caleb Stubbs, a 28-year-old transit and rail engineer at Kimley-Horn who was born in Douglasville, has created a detailed, 146-page report for the future of rail transit across metro Atlanta called "ATL Trains." His idea, which is gaining popularity from BeltLine boardrooms to the halls of Congress, is to create a regional commuter train network in existing railroad right-of-way. The ATL Trains would go to Douglasville and other Atlanta suburbs. (Urbanize Atlanta)
  2. Douglasville City Offices and Public Services, including garbage service, will be closed on Monday, Sep. 5, due to the Labor Day Holiday. Monday sanitation routes will be picked up on Tuesday, Sep. 6. (Douglasville Gov)
  3. Twenty-five defendants, including three of the seven founders of the Ghostface Gangsters Gang ("GFG"), have pleaded guilty to multiple charges including attempted murder. U.S. Attorney Ryan. K. Buchanan said, the "Ghostface Gangsters have trafficked drugs and orchestrated and perpetrated horrific acts of violence." The gang has been charged due to the coordinated efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement including the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglasville Police Department.   4. On Tuesday, Aug. 30, Governor Brian Kemp announced that he will allocate around $250 million to invest in low-income Georgia community infrastructure. The money will help low-income communities improve parks, sidewalks, recreation facilities, and healthy food access. (Douglas County Sentinel)
