  1. Douglasville's own Tyree Weathersby will be among a large group of recruits hosted by South Carolina on Saturday. The defensive end will get to see the Gamecocks play Georgia despite being committed to Tennessee after being recruited by Robert Garner. Other highly anticipated guests include Jatavius Shivers and Zyeir Gamble. (24/7 Sports)
  2. Commissioner Henry Mitchell III is encouraging all residents to attend the Douglas County Relay for Life Cancer Walk. The event is being held on Oct. 9 from 4:00-10:00 p.m. at 8705 Cambellton St., Douglasville, Ga 30134. Money raised from the event will go toward cancer research and finding a cure.   3. District 2 Commissioner Kelly Robinson is inviting residents to attend the dedication of a District 2 fire truck. The dedication will be held on Friday, Sep. 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Guests can gather at Station #6 in Douglasville. (Press Release Desk )
  4. Following a week-long trial, Carlos Betancourt, 35, was convicted of child molestation, statutory rape, and human trafficking. In November of 2020, a 13-year-old victim ran away from her mother’s home in Cobb County and was target by Betancourt. By January of 2021, the victim was able to escape his home and contact her mother. Betancourt is facing a maximum punishment of two life sentences plus 20 years.   5. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office currently has a BOLO out on two males seen at the Budget Car Rental in Lithia Springs. The men are suspects in a theft which occurred on the night of Jul. 29.
